Elizabeth Arden introduced Splendor for Women into the marketplace in 1998. The nose who constructed this perfume/cologne for the popular designer house was James Krivda.

Splendor by Elizabeth Arden can only be purchased as an Eau de Parfum. An Eau de Parfum, or EDP for short, consists of 10-20% perfume oil.

In 1983, Michael Edwards created a system for classifying perfumes called the Fragrance Wheel. According to this classification system, there are fourteen different Families. Elizabeth Arden Splendor is part of the Floral Family. Dominant notes of freshly cut flowers: either as a mixed bouquet of multiple flowers, or the theme of a single floral note are characteristic of perfumes classified as Floral.

Each Family defined in the Fragrance Wheel is divided into four more subcategories called Fresh, Crisp, Classical, and Rich. These divisions correspond to different intensities of the dominant fragrance notes associated with each Family. Think of these intensities like the differences between Soprano (Fresh), Alto (Crisp), Tenor (Classical), and Bass (Rich). Splendor Elizabeth Arden is in the Fresh subdivision of the Floral Family.

There are three segments that make up a fragrance’s life, which are labeled Top Notes, Middle Notes, and Base Notes. These segments occur because each fragrance note composed in a fragrance has differing rates of volatility or evaporation. Splendor Perfume goes through these three separate periods.

Top Notes are light, volatile and evaporate quickly. They are a fragrance’s initial impression and last around 10 to 20 minutes. The Top Notes for Splendor Elizabeth Arden are Pineapple, Wisteria, Freesia, Peony, Hyacinth, Apple, Sweet Pea, and Bergamot.

The Middle Notes for Splendor for Women are Magnolia, Rose, Lily, Poppy, Orchid, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, and Rose. These fragrance notes form the main body of a perfume and are long lasting.

The Base Notes are the longest lasting qualities of a perfume. The Base Notes for Elizabeth Arden Splendor are Sandalwood, Amber, Woodsy Notes, Musk, Cedar, and Brazilian Rosewood.

What makes the Michael Edwards Fragrance Wheel so great is that it can help you find fragrances that you would like but never even knew existed. Just like Splendor by Elizabeth Arden, these fragrances Cherish by Revlon, Curve Wave for Women by Liz Claiborne, Ed Hardy for Women by Ed Hardy, Extravagance D’Amarige by Givenchy, and Still by Jennifer Lopez are also in the Floral Family. Chances are that you will like them.

Evelyn Bodhi is a perfume advisor for a Perfumes Shop that regularly carries Splendor by Elizabeth Arden. She has worked in the fragrance industry for nearly three decades.
